Woman Drives Hours To Surprise Senior ‘Soul Dog’, Captures Reaction on Cam

A woman who had not seen her family dog in nearly a month made the 18-hour drive to surprise him and viewers fell head over heels.

TikTok user @gingerhaaze formed a special relationship with the family’s dog. She calls the 15-year-old canine her “soul dog.” He became “so attached” to her while living together. But after she moved out of her parent’s house, she hasn’t been able to spend as much time with him, breaking not only her heart but his too.

“When I moved out my parents took up a part-time residence in another state so at the point of the video it had been about a month since I had seen him!” she told Newsweek via TikTok.

Whenever the dog is back with her parents, he stares at the garage and skips meals, longing for her to come home. Knowing he will do this, she said she makes it a point to not go too long in between visits.

She recently made the 18-hour drive from Ohio to Florida to surprise him. When she arrived, he was fast asleep. She thought why not capture the precious moment on video? She placed the camera on the table in front of the couch and gently sat next to him in the December 22 TikTok video.

He slowly opened his eyes, aware someone was there. He didn’t notice her at first, but one sniff confirmed his home: she returned home. As soon as he realized, he made his way over to sit on her lap. He couldn’t believe his dream came true.

His tail wagged the entire time he was getting pets and kisses. The two besties were finally reunited again after nearly a month.

And, thankfully, ever since she’s returned home, he’s been back to himself.

“He’s been so happy and full of energy and eating every meal!! It’s nice to have him sleeping in my leg triangle again,” she said.

‘A Puppy Again’

Within five days of being posted, the TikTok video amassed over 2.2 million views and 592,000 likes. People fell head over heels for the dog’s precious reaction.

“And he became a puppy again,” wrote one viewer.

Another added: “Omg the way he just knew it was you.”

A third person commented: “You’ll never regret that drive,” to which the woman responded “EVER.”
