Hearts Melt at What Parents Do While Dog-Sitting for 2 Weeks: ‘So Lucky’

A woman was left speechless when she discovered her parents’ thoughtful gesture while they were dog-sitting in her home.

In December 2024, Hannah Law and her husband went on a two-week vacation, leaving her parents in charge of their Labrador, named Woody. Law, from Arizona, told Newsweek it was really hard to leave her pup at home while they traveled to Guatemala and Costa Rica, but she knew he would have the best time with his grandparents.

Indeed, any time they are looking after Woody, Law said that they “treat him like a king” and utterly spoil him.

But it turns out they spent the fortnight doing more than just lavishing Woody with toys and treats. Law and her husband returned to their home to discover that part of the wall in the dining area was covered in wrapping paper, hiding her parents’ mysterious creation.

“We got home in the middle of the night and went right to bed, so we didn’t even see the wrapping on the wall until the following day,” Law said. “They made us wait until Christmas to unveil it so they could see our reaction when we were all together.”

For a few days, Law pondered what the surprise might be, but nothing could have prepared her for what was underneath the wrapping paper.

On Christmas morning, the couple tore it open to reveal a gallery wall of their favorite pictures with Woody. It included a mixture of sweet family photos and, of course, a few goofy ones showing the Labrador’s antics, too.

Law couldn’t love it more, and said it is her “favorite part of the house” now.

She added: “We were a little hesitant at first, mostly because we assumed they had put holes in our walls and added something semipermanent. But my mom has always had a great eye for interior design, so I knew it would look good.

“We were super-surprised and absolutely in love. Everything about the gallery wall is perfect. The mixed frames go well together and match our home perfectly. It’s so special to have a tribute to our perfect pup, and it really competes the room,” Law said.

The picture frames were hung up using adhesives and magnets, meaning they didn’t require any holes to be put in the wall, and Law can move them around freely.

The TikTok Reaction

After finally unveiling the gallery wall her parents put together, Law shared a video of it on her TikTok account (@woodysmom_). She normally shares videos of Woody on his dedicated account (@the.lab.woody on TikTok), but this time, she is the one capturing attention.

The video has delighted internet users, going viral with over 255,500 views and more than 46,200 likes on TikTok in a matter of days.

Speaking about the overwhelmingly positive response, Law said: “So many people commented on how thoughtful and loving my parents must be to give such a special gift, and that is definitely not lost on me. They are the greatest, and we’re so lucky to have them.

“I love it more and more each day. Something so simple added so much to the house, and I love that the photos are on display for everyone who comes into our home,” Law added.

With 115 comments on the TikTok video so far, many social-media users praised Law’s parents for the creative gift idea.
