Dog recovers after being shot in the face in Millvale, shelter says

CINCINNATI (WXIX) -A dog in Millvale is recovering after the dog was shot in the face Thursday night, according to Cincinnati Animal CARE.

The shelter said in a Facebook post that the dog, Lady Bug, was shot around 6 p.m. in the 3300 block of Beekman Street.

When deputies arrived, they found that the dog had a single gunshot wound to her face.

Cincinnati Animal CARE says the dog had to be taken to their clinic at the shelter for treatment.

The medical team immediately were able to control the bleeding and stabilize the dog.

“Today, after further investigation and care, it has been determined that the bullet entered through the right side of Lady Bug’s forehead, traveled through the muscles in her head, through her neck, then through the shoulder, and out the back of her leg near the elbow, causing a fracture in her leg,” Cincinnati Animal CARE said in a Facebook post.

The medical team says the leg will eventually need to be amputated.

“We are monitoring her blood count in case she needs a transfusion, but so far, she’s doing well! We are proud of the quick action by our deputies and the elite level of emergency care by our medical team,” Cincinnati Animal CARE said.

Anyone who has information on the incident is asked to contact Cincinnati Animal CARE at 513-541-7387.
