Couple Adopts Senior Dog Found on Roadside, Gives Him Final Years of Love

A bittersweet video of a senior dog’s transformation from before being rescued to his final days left viewers sobbing.

TikTok user @cupcakelyns shared in a November 22 video that her parents found a dirty and weak dog wandering down the street. They instantly scooped him up and brought him home. That’s when the poster told her husband if the dog’s owners didn’t step up, they would keep him. Considering the condition he was found in, she suspected no one would come forward, which turned out to be true.

From then on, they welcomed him home, named him Archie and showed him what life looked like when surrounded by love. The vet estimated Archie to be about 14 years old and, unfortunately, discovered several health issues. He had a heart murmur, was in the late stages of heart failure and had arthritis.

Knowing he wouldn’t have too much time left, the family was determined to make the most of it for Archie. They gave him the medication he needed, endless love and kept him comfortable. He started showing a goofy personality. The family learned Archie loved his naps. He enjoyed cuddling with blankets and sharing his bed with his cat brother, Gatsby.

The TikTok video shows Archie’s progression from the moment he was rescued to his final days. You could see the light return to his face. He filled out his body. He was cleaner and, of course, happier.

The family’s dedication and love kept Archie alive for another year. They came to the difficult decision of helping him cross the rainbow bridge when they noticed his body was unable to handle the winter. He had trouble standing and his heart continued to worsen.

Although Archie passed over two years ago, the owner still thinks about him often as he taught her about love and patience and because of Archie, senior dogs hold an extra special place in her heart.

With over 63,400 views on TikTok, people were touched by the family stepping in to give their all to Archie.
