Oh man, shits heating up in 2025 already! It’s only January and already one of the hardest LP’s might have been released. Let’s talk about it! What we have here is ‘War Dog‘, a 10-track record performed by K. Burns and produced by Hiyah777, two people who I’ve never heard of until now, but their chemistry and overall dynamic on this project blew me away!
Firstly, let’s talk about the absolutely menacing production on there. It sounds like the sonic equivalent of walking through the toughest streets in a war-torn city, violence everywhere, no empathy, no kindness, just pure hatred and agony. Listening to this made me feel uneasy; it makes you feel the pain of those conceptual streets, those feelings of agony flooding through the lyrics and sounds right into your ears, and it’s honestly scary but in the most profound way possible, like watching the most well-executed thriller movie!
The track ‘Bloodstains’ reminds me of the classic radio/tv show ‘The Twilight Zone’ in its mystical aura and haunting keys on the instrumental; it’s a wild track but just as equally fitting compared to the other thrilling and at times downright methodical beats on this project provided by Hiyah777. As far as the rapping goes, to say Burns kills it would be the biggest understatement of the year so far. His cold bars slice through like a knife through butter; he’s relentless and devastating in execution, each bar, each word spoken, delivers the same impact as Tyson in his prime through the headphones; it’s almost as if those sinister beats are fuelling the beast inside and unleashing the monster who murdered everything around it! Absolutely killer performance!
Included in this project are a few friends such as Tristate, ethemadassassin, Big Twins, FaceOnBroadWay, Tay Da Crown and Slim Fuego, and these beasts in their own right help maintain the pure savagery on this record, their reckless nature and auras help keep the sonic bloodlust alive and they were in my opinion the perfect cast of madman to join the ‘War dogs’ also I’d find it absolutely dope if the name of this project was inspired by the NJPW Bulletin Club faction ‘War Dogs’ but that’s something I’d have to have confirmed in a later date!
Either way, this is already on my 2025 album of the year list. It’s brutal, savage, nasty in all the best ways possible. The energy between Rapper and producer here is pure and genius all in one, I can’t speak more highly on this album, definitely a must check out!
